I always knew this city had their own distribution system, however the downtown area still operates at low level distribution! www.google.com/maps/@52.2712856,-113.8196659,3a,45.4y,53.3h,110.89t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1ss6qqg9UDlDKS0hWVkA45gg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

  • Pole Worth Visiting

    - 14 Jan 2019
I really need to hit this line sometime if I take a trip to northwestern Alberta. This is a double circuit 144kV line owned by ATCO Electric serving the Irish Creek 706S Substation: www.google.com/maps/@53.7732599,-110.8961351,3a,60.4y,85.62h,104.04t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sougmyWULwO_G4swVoDutIg!2e0!7i13312!8i6656

I almost drove off the road when I was driving through the Beltline community as I was heading into downtown to run into a very small active 4kV system! www.ipernity.com/doc/286325/47922844 www.ipernity.com/doc/286325/47922842

  • Update: End of 2018

    - 29 Dec 2018
I have completed organizing all my photos into albums. I just have to organize photos that might have been added to the wrong albums and then I'll be back in business on both Flickr and Ipernity!

  • I'm Back!

    - 17 Oct 2018 - 1 comment
By this weekend I will have my Ipernity subscription renewed and begin the porting of all my Flickr photos onto here! Then I plan to upload each photo to both sites to keep the two in sync. Glad to be back!

    - 16 May 2018 - 1 comment
300 more photos and I will be caught back up to the current date! Both my subscriptions on Flickr and Ipernity are expired and renewing them isn't exactly in the budget, however once it is done I will be forwarding all photos here so I can finally manage both sites!

  • Another Update!

I have all my photos from the United States uploaded except for the ones I took when I was in Washington in 2013. Unfortunately all my BPA photos are gone. I have scanned my computer for them and they aren't there. However, BPA's territory is only about a 5 hour drive away for me and those photos can be replaced sometime in the future. As for other photos, I just have to upload ones I have takenj between August 2017 up until now which is only around 500 or less.

  • 4kV distribution alive in Calgary!

    - 19 Feb 2018 - 2 comments
Since ENMAX tends to upgrade their system constantly, I was surprised to see 4kV distribution still up in the air when I was at a hockey game this weekend! Unfortunately the weather wasn't too good so I was unable to gather any photos. All 4kV substations are gone now so I'm looking to see if I can find any pole step-down transformers or pad-mounts. Here is a shot of the line I saw: www.google.ca/maps/@51.040069,-114.0488835,3a,37.5y,297.12h,111.81t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sIWOPD53WfltdiVDx41lYwA!2e…

Anyone remember this line? www.flickr.com/photos/powerline64/30663759714/in/album-72157680259597712 This line runs through the Lethbridge city limits on these old double circuit poles from the main substation to the city limits and then transfers to more recent construction. I noticed today that there were new poles at the edge of the city where the line now ends and heads underground. When I looked at the next pole down I noticed the wires were discconnected all together. I decided to head t…

  • Photos Lost

    - 02 Nov 2017 - 5 comments
I am a bit irritated that I reacted the way I did when the news of the possibility of Ipernity shutting down. After going through my photos to keep reuploading, I noticed some were missing! I was looking through my trip to Washington in 2013 and all of my Bonneville Power photos are GONE! Same with other photos as well. I guess I gotta take this as a learning lesson and just salavage what I can.
